Family Planning Podcast Series Ep #1: Expanding choices in family planning
Access to safe, voluntary family planning is a human right. Family planning is central to gender equality and women’s empowerment, and it is a key driver for social and economic development. However, many women want to avoid pregnancy but are not using safe and effective family planning methods, for reasons ranging from lack of access to information or services to lack of support from their partners or communities and myths and misconceptions hindering the uptake. This threatens their ability to build a better future for themselves, their families, and their communities.
This episode of the One Health Lens Podcast features guests Akaco Ekirapa, the British High Commission, Head of Health Programmes, and Charity Koronya, UNFPA Family Planning Specialist as they explain the role of government and partners in safeguarding access to Family Planning. It delves into the efforts being made by the government and partners to improve the availability and distribution of family planning supplies. The guests provide insights into the impact of these interventions on the lives of Kenyan women and families.
