In Kenya, nearly all women have heard of FGM and almost 27 per cent have undergone the painful practice. Globally, it is estimated that between 100 to 140 million girls and women alive today have undergone some form of FGM.

A joint anti-FGM campaign between Kenya and other African countries, carried out by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Unicef is trying to change that.
