Working with the Parliamentarians

UNFPA Country Office has worked with the parliamentarians through the Kenya Women Parliamentarian Association (KEWOPA).

At a NAWMP training held in Nairobi in May/June 2006, KEWOPA developed an action plan on how to engage with UNFPA in its activities. It was proposed after the meeting that KEWOPA agree on the implementation Process.

UNFPA would then support KEWOPA to do the following:-

  • Finalise and implement the action plan initiated during the NAWMP training workshop in 2006
  • Provide technical support to KEWOPA to share what they learnt with other members
  • KEWOPA to identify areas where technical support is needed.

UNFPA has so far provided support to the KEWOPA secretariat through the provision of office equipment and discussions are on going on ammending the Childrens Act.
